Rev. Rebecca Trefz was first commissioned in 2005, and ordained as a full elder in the Dakotas Conference in 2008. She served appointments at Rapid City(SD) Canyon Lake UMC and Brandon(SD) Celebration UMC, before becoming  Executive Director of Ministries for the Dakotas Conference in 2014. She continued in the role of director of ministries and began serving a dual role as interim district superintendent for the Southwest District in 2019. As of July 1, 2020, she continued her dual-role as director of ministries but transitioning from superintendent of the Southwest District to superintendent of the Southeast District.

Rebecca earned her bachelor of arts degree from Simpson College, Indianola, Iowa, and her Master of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. 

Rebecca is married to Rev. Dr. Steven Trefz, and they have two children, Brady (2006) and Henry (2008).
