WATFORD CITY, NORTH DAKOTA --  The Bakken Oil Ministry plan is becoming a reality. Jim and Kathie Konsor have begun their journey of ministry in Watford City, North Dakota.

The Bakken Oil Rush Ministry got a big boost in June from the Miracle Offering collected at the twentieth session of the Dakotas Annual Conference in Bismarck, North Dakota.  Jim and Kathie Konsor are in the process of establishing a ministry center in Watford City as one of the first steps in the Bakken Oil Rush Ministry. 

A place to live

The Konsors moved into a two-bedroom apartment on the third floor in Watford City.  The apartment will serve as their home and office.  Jim and Kathie will pay $2,700 a month to rent the apartment. This is a typical rate for housing in the oil rush region of North Dakota. 

Jim Konsor stated, “We are so fortunate to have this place.  When we first indicated our interest in the apartment, there were a several apartments available, even one on the first floor. In a matter of a couple of days there was one available on the third floor.“  

A gathering place

A key to the ministry in Watford City is establishing a place to do ministry. A gathering place for people to come, visit, and get connected is needed.  Jim and Kathie Konsor have a couple of ideas for thegathering place. “We are hoping in the next few weeks we can host a night were people can come and have a brat, chips and pop and get connected,” said Jim Konsor.

A mobile thrift store

The Konsors are currently busy setting up a mobile thrift store.  The thrift store will move around to parking lots, man camps, and other places where people come and go. 

Jim explains, “ We are in need of a trailer that is about 35-40 feet long, has two doors, so people can walk through, going in one door and out the other.  Our hope is to put shelves in the trailer and bring it to the people.” 

Progress

Great progress  has been this summer investigating and establishing a place to live, office, mobile thrift store and a gathering space in Watford City.   The Bakken Oil Rush Ministry is coming alive. 

“We are excited it is going to come together.  Churches are excited, “ noted Jim and Kathie.
