LTC goes virtual

Leadership Training Camp (LTC), like all large group events planned during the pandemic, went virtual, thanks to some innovation and extra efforts by staff and consultant Steph Caro. Instead of the week-long camp at Lake Poinsett Camp & Retreat Center, the LTC experience went online for several days, with dancing, games, and discussions for youth from across the Dakotas. In this video, Doreen Gosmire interviews Rev. Peggy Hanson and Rev. Jeff Lathrop, two leaders of our LTC and CCYM. 
 

LTC, and all of the  summer operations at all of the camps across the Dakotas-Minnesota Area, were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The decision not to hold camp this summer creates financial struggles. Each campsite’s operation, including salaries and benefits, maintenance and upkeep of the property and facilities, program-related expenses, and fixed costs are funded nearly 100% by camper and guest group fees. The estimated financial loss of suspension of retreats and summer camping programs is $1.8M for the Dakotas-Minnesota Area Camp and Retreat Ministries.
