ReNew United Methodist Church in Kenmare, North Dakota desires to be a place where people can come and renew their connection with each other and God. The ReNew UMC congregation describes themselves as a causal church with a contemporary attitude and welcomes all to come as they are.

As a recent missional church plant, ReNew UMC looks for ways to reach out and connect with families in the area that have previously not been connected to a church. Kenmare, ND is located on the eastern edge of the Bakken Oil Rush. The oil booms and busts in the area have presented unique ministry opportunities as well as challenges.

ReNew UMC is one part of the three-point North Prairie Parish in the communities of Kenmare, Bowbells, and Sherwood. The previous pastor lived in the parsonage in Mohall, which was a part of the Parish until it closed in 2019. A new pastor was recently appointed to the North Prairie Parish and is living in the parsonage in Kenmare. Because the parsonage sat vacant for many years, the house has seen better days. The shingles and gutters of the parsonage and garage are in desperate need of being replaced. The church members have come together to provide a welcoming place for their new pastor, but the congregation still owes $45,000 for a loan to purchase the parsonage at the height of the oil boom.

All three of the congregations in the North Prairie Parish strive to live out their calling to reach new people for Jesus Christ. The financial burden of repairs to the parsonage takes their minds, talents, and resources away from ministry. Members of ReNew UMC want to take care of their pastor, so their pastor can better care for the churches and the communities of the North Prairie Parish.

Asbury UMC thanks you . . . $9,000 granted!

Thank you to all the Builders Club partners for sharing in the call for the Asbury United Methodist Church in Sioux Falls, SD. We are deeply grateful for the generous response to help us care for our property. Our building is a place that we hope provides life-changing experiences with Christ by loving and accepting all, nurturing discipleship, and serving others.  

Your generous gifts will help our Trustees in their stewardship of our property. We have recently replaced seven heating and air-conditioning units on the building – along with a roof leak. The cost of the HVAC project ($62,195) and the roof repair ($3,500). Another project on their list is to replace the fascia, soffits, and siding on the north and south ends of the building ($21,000). The exterior of the building will also be painted at a cost of $11,086.
