Listening for God Mark 14:32-34

The idea of place is extremely important to us. We see, hear, smell, and feel. How many times have you walked into a place and thought, “Wow, this is very comfortable,” or “Good grief, this is one of the most uncomfortable places I’ve ever been”?

There's a scene in the movie Hugo where Hugo ascends to the inner workings of the main clock tower in the Paris train station. From his secret perch, he's able to see the beautiful, light-filled city of Paris, to get away while the world is asleep, and to think about his life as an orphan.

It was of great importance for Jesus to do the same. There, without any distractions, he was able to pray, to listen for God’s voice, and to share with his disciples his deepest emotions.
