George Frein died on Oct. 4 2023 in his Fort Worth, Texas, home, at the age of 91. George is the spouse of Rev. Shelly Mattews, Dakotas Conference elder.
Together George and Shelly served in extension ministry at Tufts University; Furman University; and Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University where Shelly currently serves. George was a faculty member at the University of North Dakota teaching in the Religion Department.
A funeral service is scheduled at Trinity Episcopal Church in Fort Worth, Texas, October 21 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be directed to Humanities North Dakota, https://www.humanitiesnd.org/donate.
