William James "Jim" Oates, 84, Rapid City, SD, passed away on August 6, 2024. Jim is the spouse of Rev. Muriel Oates, retired associate member of the Dakotas Conference.

Together, Jim and Muriel served the Dakotas Conference at Faith and at Open Heart (South Maple) UMC. Additionally, they were active in a variety of ministries beyond the local church. 

Memorial visitation will be at 5:30 Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Canyon Lake United Methodist Church, Rapid City, S.D. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Canyon Lake UMC.
