Elisha/Samuel Intern applications
Do you know a young adult or older high school student who has gifts for ministry or is sensing God's call in their lives? Encourage them to apply for an Elisha or Samuel internship. These internship programs allow students to explore, discern their call, and discuss where God is calling them while getting a taste of church and pastoral ministry. High school and college students who complete the application process are then selected by the Dakotas Conference Board of Ordained Ministry who will assign them a church and mentor. Applications are being accepted until March 1. Churches interested in hosting an intern should contact their district superintendent.

This week, we begin our journey through Luke-Acts with the first chapter of Luke. As we’ve just come through the Advent/Christmas season, these texts are likely very familiar. As you take them in once again, consider how they set the stage for the “flavor” of this Gospel, one that emphasizes that Jesus came for ALL and made space for those who society or religious circles rejected – Gentiles, women, the poor or sick, the Samaritans, children. Enter the story afresh and think about times when you have felt like an outsider because of something you couldn’t do or didn’t have (v. 7); or when you wrestled with doubt or fear. Reflect upon the attributes of God mentioned in Mary’s song, and consider who the “humble/lowly” are that God is inviting you to “lift up.” Additional resources: Bible Project Guide to Luke

2025 Conference Lenten Study - The Third Day by Bishop Tom Berlin
In this six-week study, Bishop Tom Berlin uses his gifts of storytelling and understanding the Scriptures to connect the reader to the experiences of several individuals around Jesus in his final days, focusing on new life and redemption rather than loss. Join Peter, Mary Magdalene, and Thomas as they feel the despair of losing Jesus and the surprise and joy that awaits them in the resurrection. This study traces events around these characters, along with Paul and the disciples at Emmaus, and how the resurrection transforms their lives. Videos by the Appointive Cabinet and other members of the Conference will be provided for each week of the study.
