On Thursday, January 13, 2022, the South Dakota Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and Lutheran Social Services of South Dakota will be hosting the Fifth Annual Interfaith Day at the State Capitol in Pierre for the start of the 2022 Legislative Session.
While God calls for us to serve the neighbor, we believe that to serve the neighbor is to listen attentively and to care actively about the whole person and the quality of their life in the whole community.
We would be grateful if you would join us, and other faith leaders, for a day at the Capitol as we stand in solidarity and pray for peace for everyone who calls South Dakota home.
The schedule for the day is as follows:
9:00 AM – Morning Coffee and Briefing at Lutheran Memorial Church in Pierre, SD
9:30 AM – Meet in the Capitol Building Rotunda
10:30 AM – Morning Prayer and Introductions.
- Following the morning prayer, lunch (kosher and halal) will be served at Lutheran Memorial Church.
12:00 PM – Legislative Session Begins (time subject to change; https://sdlegislature.gov)
1:00 PM – State of the Tribes
We hope that you will be able to accept this invitation and extend our invitation to those in your faith community to represent our journey for peace and unity among all.
