Called: Kathy’s story

Kathy Stuessi, a member of Beresford Zion UMC, thought she would volunteer to help out with youth ministry for her children. Her children are now adults, but she still continues to serve her call from God as a youth ministry leader.

“My kids got so excited and became so involved. I got caught up in it just like everybody else,” Kathy said. “God was calling me. So here I am.”

She is quick to point out that you do not have to have a degree in ministry or a degree of any kind to answer help with any ministry. Kathy states, “It is the passion. It’s the love for God. That’s what people need to see and feel.”

Things are always changing, and the needs are different today from yesterday, especially in youth ministry. Stuessi explains, “You don’t have to know everything. You don’t have to do everything. You just have to be willing to give it a shot."
