WILLISTON, NORTH DAKOTA -- "Out in Faith" provides worship, a meal, and now someone to help the ministry grow.  Katie Peterson has arrived in Williston, North Dakota to reach out and grow the Bakken Oil Rush Ministry thanks to the support of the General Board of Discipleship. 

"Out in Faith"  is the name of the ministry based out of Faith United Methoist Church in Williston, North Dakota.  The ministry began as part of an effort to reach thousands of workers and their families in the Bakken oil region. 

Katie was called by the General Board of Global Ministry Church and Community Ministry office to consider a transfer of appointments.  "I love winters, snow-shoeing and quilting.  I love to find new adventures in life – where ever God has a plan for me," stated Katie. 

Katie is a preacher's daughter from the West Ohio Conference, where she recieved a bachelor's degree from College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio in Gerontology.

She recently served as Church and Commiunity Worker at God's Country Cooperative Parish in the Eastern Upper Peninsula of Michigan.  The ministry involved working with seven communities acorss 2,500 sqaure miles. 

Katie has been a US-2 young adult missionary and a Church and Community Worker in Tennesee. 

She holds a master degree in religion from the Memphis Theological Seminary and is a deaconess in the United Methodist Church.  

Out in Faith Bakken Oil Rush Ministry is hoping to discover ways where God  is calling.  Katie said, "I want to assist in needs in and around the area – with the local people, homeless, children, youth, and adults – so that they might feel God’s love through us – in warmth of a blanket, coat, listening ears, or Bibles and study groups.  We are just in our baby stages of the ministry – searching out where and what the needs and wants of the community are."
